Student Life

At Wixams Academy Sixth Form, student life is vibrant, supportive and full of opportunity. Our specialist site offers a more adult learning environment where you're treated as an individual and encouraged to grow both academically and personally.

There's a strong culture of ambition and care, with expert subject teachers, tailored tutoring, and a dedicated school counsellor always on hand. Beyond the classroom, our co-curricular programme is packed with free activities to suit every interest, from creative clubs to leadership roles and enrichment opportunities.

With inspiring facilities, outstanding careers support, and regular links with local schools and businesses, student life here prepares you not just for exams, but for everything that comes next.

Dedicated Sixth Form Spaces

Sixth Form students benefit from their own dedicated spaces designed to support focused study and independent learning. With access to a modern common room, quiet study areas, and specialist classrooms, students can enjoy a calm, purposeful environment that reflects the more mature, adult atmosphere of sixth form life. These tailored spaces encourage both academic progress and social connection, helping students feel settled, motivated, and ready for the next stage of their education.

The best advice I can give to students joining the sixth form is to make good use of the spaces provided. It will be your second home for the next two years, so utilise the supervised study room and all the resources in there. - Shaun, Sixth Form Alumni

Leadership Opportunities - Senior Prefect Team

Each year, students in Year 12 can apply to join the Senior Prefect Team for a one year term. The Senior Prefect Team:

  • Take a lead on Sixth Form community outreach

  • Organise a range of initiatives including fundraisers

  • Coordinate with the secondary school

  • Meet the Sixth Form Leadership Team

  • Represent the Sixth Form at School Events

Small Class Sizes

Small class sizes mean you're known by name, and our welcoming community makes it easy to build friendships - whether you're continuing from Wixams or joining us for the first time.

What I love most about the sixth form is the support you get from teachers. Not only are they subject specialists, but they also have a remarkable ability to bring joy to their students. They are caring, kind and always want what's best for you.    - Isabelle, Wixams Academy Sixth Form Alumni
